This is how much a trip to Ibiza costs in 2017
In case you were wondering how much to save for your hols this season
Most serious clubbers spend the winter saving money meticulously. Then, in late May, they head out to Ibiza and blow the lot, because YOLO. But how much does the average raver actually spend on their annual White Isle trip? Emily, 23, from Leeds, was on the island earlier this summer and detailed how much she spent on travel, accommodation, food, beer, wine and cocktails in seven days.
The below is based on a trip to Ibiza that we would consider "normal" – ie. a quality holiday with your mates on the best party island in the world. No VIP sections or trips to Blue Marlin, unfortunately. A couple trips to the local offie and a blag here and there, as is definitely necessary. You get the idea.
Prices in euros have been converted using currency exchange rates at time of writing. Party supplies not included – you'll have to use your imagination for that.
Happy holidays!
Friday
Airport parking: My friend and I drive to the airport in the afternoon. Car parking for the week at Leeds Bradford Airport costs £50. I always pre-book so the machine recognises the number plate. That way you don’t have to queue up for a ticket and you just drive straight through.
Airport booze and food: As soon as we make it to the departure lounge we share a bottle of wine and order two meals – a steak sandwich and mini fish and chips. £20 each.
Flight: A Ryan Air special for £29.99! Hand luggage only. The previous week the flight prices were about £180. But it was also the week of the opening parties and a bank holiday in the UK. That’s why I always try to travel to Ibiza in early June.
In-flight: Small bottle of prosecco to keep morale high! £6.40
Taxi: Direct from the Airport to San Antonio. It comes to €35, but the drive is sound so we tip to €40, so that’s €20 each.
Hotel: Total cost is £460 for seven nights in a twin room at the Grand Sol Hotel in San Antonio. Although it’s only a 3 star hotel, it’s spotlessly clean and no weird wreckheads stay there. Another cool thing is the free wifi, which works in the rooms and even outside by the pool. We also have a fridge in our room – bonus! £230 each.
Drinks: Nothing wrong with a quick glass of wine at the hotel before going out! €2.50
Dinner: The food at Ibiza Rocks Bar on the promenade is always good. My mate chooses the chicken wings and ribs combo and I have the chicken pitta meal for €12. We also share a jug of sangria. €18
More drinks: On the way back to the hotel we stop at Babel in San Antonio’s old town for a quick double round of dark rum mojitos. It’s one of my favourite bars. €16
Friday total: £385.85
Saturday
Brunch: Skinny Kitchen down by the Marina for a wrap, drink and sweet pot deal. €10
Supermarket: On the way back to the hotel we buy water, baguettes, aioli and sangria from Eroski and eat and drink in our room before getting ready to go out. €10
Bus: Disco Bus to Amnesia! €3.50
Club: Elrow Opening Party! Ticket price is €50. I buy two vodka colas which are about €15 each and two bottles of water which cost €10 each. Expensive, but the party is insane. €100
Taxi: The fare is €20 from Amnesia back to the hotel, which we split between us. €10
Saturday total: £116.86
Sunday
Late Breakfast: Fatso’s Café for a full English and lots of coffee! €6
Drinks: We spend the rest of the day by the pool drinking water and fruit juice. €15
Dinner: Davids for the amazing pizza. I order the Mexican and we share a bottle of wine. Then I get the pear tart thing for desert. €25
Club: Defected at Eden. Ticket price is €20 and long drinks are about €8. Amazing value and the music is good. €50
Sunday total: £84.04
Monday
Supermarket: We don’t feel like eating much, so we buy fruit and juice from the supermarket and sit on the beach for a while. €5
Taxi: €30 from the hotel direct to DC10, so that’s €15 each.
Club: Circo Loco at DC10 isn’t much cheaper than Amnesia for drinks, although the ticket price is a bit less. Mad night! €100
Taxi: Back to the hotel, sharing the cost of the ride with a lone random! €10
Monday total: £113.80
Tuesday
Very Late Breakfast: At the café opposite Fatso’s. I don’t feel up to the full monty, so I go for scrambled egg on toast. It’s €3.50 and then €5 total with coffee.
Beach: We walk over the rocks to Cala Gracio and spend the rest of the day on the beach. We pay €21 for two sunbeds and an umbrella. €10.50
Dinner: We have dinner at the little beach bar on Cala Gracio beach. I have a huge beer for €3.50 and feel a bit overwhelmed by the tankard it’s served in! Then it’s the salmon for €15. The food is really nice and is followed by a glass of coco-loco. €25
Tuesday total: £35.45
Wednesday
Breakfast: Back to Fatso’s. I have a fried egg sandwich. Proper Yorkshire fare! €6
Bus: Day out in Ibiza Town. €2
Drinks: On the way to the shops we find this amazing little smoothie bar. It looks like a greengrocer but with tables and chairs outside. There are loads of Spanish people here enjoying their morning. I have a strawberry and banana smoothie. €3.50
Jewellery: Both of us get a feather necklace from a shop called Bijou Brigitte in Ibiza Town. A bargain at only €5 in the sale, even if it is only costume jewellery. €5
Handbag: We spend ages in a shop called Carpisa, which sells amazing handbags. Everything is a lot cheaper than you’d pay back home and the colourful designs are lush. I plump for the baby blue one with matching purse. €39.99
Lunch: After getting lost in Dalt Vila, we stop for lunch at Hard Rock Café, sharing a jug of sangria and a plate of nachos. The sangria is €22 for 1.5litre, quite reasonable considering it’s Hard Rock. The nachos are €9.50. €16
Clothes shopping: An extravagant purchase! But €140 for a pair of hand-stitched leather cowboy boots is really good. In England you’d pay at least £110 for a basic pair of black leather boots, but they’d definitely be mass-produced and the type you can buy in every size going. If you fancy a pair, the shop is opposite Hard Rock Café. €140
Bus: Back to San Antonio. €2
Supermarket: We pick up some crisps, bread, cheese and water and flake out in the hotel room. €5
Wednesday total: £219.49
Thursday
Early Lunch: Beside the pool at the Gran Sol Hotel. Spanish omelette and salad for €5 and a small jug of cava sangria to share! €12.50
Pool party: We Are Rockstars at Ibiza Rocks Hotel. We manage to blag free entry, but spend quite a lot on drinks. Cocktails are pretty good though. €40
Dinner: We meet up with some friends at Golden Buddha. It’s quite expensive, but well worth it because it’s such an amazing place to watch the sunset. I have a chicken wrap and side salad. Then we share a plate of bread, aioli and olives. I’m drinking Hendricks and Fever-Tree tonic at €10 each and have at least three. €50
Drinks: We consider going out for drinks in the West End, but decide against it. Staying in the hotel instead, we order a Baileys Irish coffee nightcap which actually keeps me awake for most of the night! €5
Thursday total: £107.50
Friday
Bus: From San Antonio bus station to the airport. €3.50
Flight: Still cheap considering the prices during the rest of the season. £39.99
In-flight: Panini and a bottle of water as we wave goodbye to the White Isle. £8.50
Friday total: £51.55
Grand total: £1114.54
