We made the trip to Copenhagen for Distortion Festival and here's a rundown of the tunes that made it so damn good
Cos-Ber-Zam 'Ne Noya' (Daphni Mix)
We'll admit it. We probably only heard this 'cause we wanted to check out what Elijah Wood (yeah, Frodo Baggins) had in his locker as he played alongside Wooden Wisdom partner Zach Cowie and DJ Fitz. In between sparking up fags and hyping the crowd on the mic, the Lord of the Rings man spun some wax and it turns out he's got a rather fine taste. Cosmic feelings in full swing with this Daphni rework of West Africans Cos-Ber-Zam.
DJ Deeon '2 B Free'
You're partying on a disused shipyard, it's starting to get light and Soul Clap decide to introduce this funky Dancemania cut (recently re-released on Numbers) straight from '97. Cue mass elation and recital of those sugar sweet "no, no, no, no, no" lyrics. Probably one of the highlights of the whole five days of the festival, let alone just the best tunes. Nice one, Deeon.
Jovonn 'Flutes (165th Street Mix)'
Yep, another from Soul Clap's set but this one's too much of a gem to leave out. Nearly 25-years-old, this provided a few minutes of proper jazzy swagger and made sure the legs carried on moving right 'til the very end. And who doesn't love a flute?
