The top 10 Drumcode tracks according to Ida Engberg
Ida goes in
It's been 20 years since Swedish DJ and producer Adam Beyer launched his Drumcode label. In the two decades since, it's released some of the finest techno tracks around, welcoming Ida Engberg (Beyer's wife, if you didn't know), and the likes of Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati and Nicole Moudaber onboard.
Drumcode just announced a 20-track compilation to celebrate its 20th birthday and, as part of the Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg cover feature, the latter picked out 10 of her favourite tunes to be released on the label.
Check 'em out below.
1 Ben Sims 'The Afterparty'
"This is probably my No 1 favourite Drumcode song. I feel like closing my eyes and disappearing into it in a dark, sweaty place. I remember standing in the middle of the dancefloor at Awakenings Gashouder in Amsterdam when Adam played it: one of those moments I will always remember. I just love it."
2 Waff ‘Vibrations’
"I've been playing it since I got it and people always come asking me what it is. It's deep and the perfect song to close the night with."
['Vibrationz' is the last track of the above mix]
3 Joey Beltram ‘Striking Distance’
"This melody does something to me every time I hear it. It's one of those songs that requires a special moment to be played. At the right time it's beautiful."
4 Adam Beyer ‘That Would Be The Sun’
"Techno made with love. It's got everything. It's dark, trippy, sexy and melancholic. Love it!"
5 Joseph Capriati ‘Gashouder’
"Joseph really created a piece of techno heaven. If Gashouder [the Amsterdam club] had a sound, it would definitely be this."
6 Patrick Siech ‘Crude’
"A trippy song perfect for a club or afterhours. I've played it in so many sets."
7 Joel Mull ‘Shake Trip’
"One of those songs that I kept on playing for a long time."
8 Billie & Pär Grindvik ‘Hold Doubt Back’
"There's so much energy in this song. I've seen dancefloors explode to it. I also think it's one of those songs that took the Drumcode sound to a new level in terms of inspiring other producers."
9 Alan Fitzpatrick ‘For An Endless Night’
"I love this song. Alan is such a talented producer. Also Jel Ford's remix of it is huge."
10 Timmo ‘Canvas’
"Such a beautiful song to end with. So many emotions."
