Slimy Ape ‘Ultra Sonic’ (Menace)

With enough sub-bass power to send you into a state of unadulterated ecstasy, the latest offering from Leeds DJ and producer Slimy Ape feels both meditative and climactic at once. Taken from his new EP ‘Onstera’ on Dubrunner’s Menace imprint, ‘Ultra Sonic’ lays down a pensive dub bassline and dreamstate vocal that echoes across the track.

Logan_OLM & Sir Hiss ‘Don Gorgon’ (Pineapple Records)

If you also can’t get enough of the grime-dubstep resurgence right now, this latest corker from Bristol’s 140 wunderkind Sir Hiss and exploding London MC Logan_OLM is one for your playlist. The first single to land from Sir Hiss’ debut album, ‘Don Gorgon’, is confident, nostalgic of the original ‘00s sound, and a bold display of both artists at the top of their game.

Mount XLR ‘Cordington Bounce’ (SoundSupply_Service)

Seoul’s Mount XLR is fast rising right now, earning new stripes with the recent release of his debut EP ‘Phase i’ featuring the excellent new single ‘Cordington Bounce’. A seamless journey through glitch, IDM, post-dubstep and murky ambient, this single experiments with textures and samples in a dramatic way.

Yaeji ft. Aliyah's Interlude and underscores ‘booboo2’ (XL Recordings)

The sequel we may not have foreseen, but most certainly wanted, Yaeji has been pulling double shifts in the banger factory in the last 12 months and her follow-up to last year’s ‘booboo’ is no exception. Enlisting US rapper Aliyah’s Interlude and singer-songwriter underscores, this new track adds even more shimmer and glitter while retaining the original’s blistering bass to create a distinctly hyperpop-meets-R&B club banger.

Manuka Honey ft. ABADIR ‘Faramanch’ (Black Acre)

Blistering, rowdy drums combined with that distinct air of chaos is to be expected from SUZIO founder Manuka Honey, but for the first single from her upcoming EP, ‘Road Rage’, the choral stylings and delicate Arabic percussion from ABADIR make for a surprisingly melodic meeting of minds. Hard-edged, sweaty kicks are slowed to an almost-chug, allowing for ADABIR’s glitchy cacophony to flutter above the beat – while atmospheric, foreboding synths dial up the intensity.

NOTION ft. Nate Sib 'UNCONDITIONAL' (HAKUNA KULALA)

Continuing to push the envelope for the UK bass sound, Bristol-based producer NOTION enlists up-and-coming US vocalist and 2hollis collaborator Nate Sib on searing new single ‘UNCONDITIONAL’. Intense synths meet scuttling breaks, with delicate pulsating vocals flowing through the middle. Building on the crying-in-the-club bass of producers like Overmono, NOTION’s preference for sharp, piercing sounds allow this track to take on an almost hypnotic quality.

KETTAMA, Clouds ‘Sort It Out’ (Steel City Dance Discs)

As described in our recent cover feature with the artist, KETTAMA is “the DJ of the moment”, and this track alone is one of the reasons we’ve given him such a prestigious title. Working with the Scottish duo Clouds, this is a fast-paced anthem with drilling drums, rich synths and vocals that teleport you back to the ‘00s trance scene. The track features on KETTAMA’s long-awaited debut album ‘Archangel’, out now.

Josh Baker, The Egyptian Lover, Rome Fortune ‘Dr Feel Right’ (Three Six Zero Recordings)

“I’m going to make you feel good” is a lyric that’s been circulating the tech-house scene, with this track popping up all over the dancefloor and TikTok. The new release from Josh Baker is another cut that cements his name atop the scene. This time, Baker links up with the legend that is Egyptian Lover and Philadelphia rapper Rome Fortune. As soon as those smooth, sultry vocals of The Egyptian Lover kick in, you know this is going to be an anthem.

Nia Archives, CLIPZ ‘Maia Maia’ (Up Ya Archives)

Who said summer was over? Here’s a corker to fuel you with the last rays. Continuing to bring the same Brazilian flavours of ‘Baianá’, ‘Maia Maia’ is a gun-finger pointing tune that will get you bouncing around the dancefloor. Working with Bristol legend CLIPZ, the track is said to be inspired by the likes of DJ Patife and DJ Marky as it gives that junglist and drum ‘n’ bass twist to a Brazilian sample. Nia shares: “When we hit the studio, our vision was to create a track that could feel like the soundtrack to the 2026 World Cup. I'd come across this incredible samba group sample, paired it with an old Juno-106 I'd just picked up, and from there, 'Maia Maia' was born."

Minor Science ‘Mortals’ (Timedance)

‘Mortals’ might be the most unique track we’ve heard this year. A shimmering opening precedes a demonic voice beckoning “Come mortals, this ends now”, which flips into heavy bass strumming and all-out screamo rage, before careering sideways into wonky bass stepping. The type of brilliantly headfuck music only a Bang Face Weekender lifer could make.

UFOs (Phoenix, Braxe + Falcon) ‘UFO’ (Smugglers Way)

French touch legends Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon link up with indie pop band Phoenix, whose member Laurent Brancowitz was part of the proto Daft Pink group Darlin’ with Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, for a super collab of serious French house pedigree. Master producers Braxe + Falcon bring warmth and depth to the song, merging blissfully with Phoenix’s jangly melodies and the moving vocals of Thomas Mars. You’ll get glassy eyed while playing this nostalgic anthem on loop.

BLUMITSU ‘Pinahoelada’ (BLUMITSU™ LABORATORIES)

A heads-down heater from the fearsome duo of Bluetoof and Jossy Mitsu, Unstable bass wobs flex below eerie melodic tones, with a deadpan vocal adding to the wigged-out, early-hours vibe.

Smokey Bubblin' B ‘Original Bad Boy’ (ATW)

This track is rude. We’re talking pushing onto the tube before letting people off, coughing without covering your mouth, and staring at your phone while on date levels of rude. Speed garage trademarks and rolling Reese bass lead the way, with housey chords, samples and breaks switching up the mood to lighter territory, keeping the irresistible pulse driving.
