The Redlight highlights: June
Monday plans on the White Isle are sorted courtesy of Sankeys
Mondays at Sankeys Ibiza this summer are once again hosted by Shelter-collaborating party series The Redlight following a successful debut last season. Check out five of our favourite artists passing through in June below.
Todd Terry
Few DJs can boast a career as distinguished as that of Todd Terry. His discography features releases on revered imprints such as Strictly Rhythm and Astralwerks, while through the curation of his own labels In House Records and Sound Design he’s put out influential records from Roland Clark, Jungle Brothers and many more. Despite hailing from New York, Terry has always found Europe to be a more receptive audience to his music. He knows exactly how to get a party going on the continent.
DJ Zinc
Boisterous club music is Zinc’s bread and butter. Dress to sweat for his appearance at The Redlight because you’re going to be dancing, hard. He works influence from jungle, hip hop, breakbeat and dubstep into his dark and pounding productions and sets. Energy will be high at this one.
Barely Legal
During a Barely Legal set you never know what to expect next, but you always know it will get you moving. Her selections are diverse but firmly rooted in the club and primed to get you dancing. Check out her recent Mixmag Lab set below for example, with everything from ghetto house to leftfield grime drawn for.
Redlight
You couldn’t have a series of nights called The Redlight without booking Redlight could you? The London-based DJ works under many names, with aliases including Lobster Boy and Animal Youth, but regardless of the moniker the music he puts out is always banging. His sets are equally explosive, chopping between grime, house, bass music and everything that kicks off in a club.
Sonny Fodera
After releasing his debut record in 2009, Sonny Fodera quickly built up a big reputation as an artist to watch with renowned producers such as Green Velvet and MK tapping him for collaborations. His house-driven selections are always irresistibly fun to dance to. At the start of 2016 Defected picked him up to mix a 3-disc compilation as part of its In The House series, placing him in the esteemed company of DJs such as Kenny Dope, Pete Tong and Gilles Peterson. He’s on his way to the top.
