Peverelist has been key to the evolution of underground dance music in Bristol for the best part of a decade

He became crucial to the city's dubstep scene during the mid 00s and is one of the main protagonists guiding the new and crucial soundsystem music coming out of the South West today.

This month sees the release of the second volume of 'Worth The Weight', a compilation of seismic cuts released via Peverelist's Punch Drunk label. It showcases a raft of artists working around the theme of sub frequencies, be it the rattling techno of Hodge, the OG dubstep of Zhou or the analogue workouts of Bass Clef. In operation since '06, Punch Drunk has always been a lightning rod for whiplash-inducing tracks and it remains as relevant as ever in '14, charting the constant evolutions deep down in UK dance music.

Peverelist is also one third of Livity Sound, the live unit and white label imprint that has been responsible for some searing 12"s. Alongside Kowton and Asusu, he's released a series of percussive tracks that draw from the rhythm of UK funky, the seething momentum of techno and the cold industrial atmosphere of dubstep. Livity Sound released its first single in 2011 and last year compiled all of its 12"s into a compilation. In November, 'Livity Sound Remixes' will be released, bringing together versions of those original tracks by A Made Up Sound, Nick Höppner and Surgeon, making for a neat addition to the Livity project and further innovation in the place where rough house, techno and bass-heavy dance music collide.

Alongside fellow Bristolian Pinch, Peverelist has been instrumental in guiding a new wave of producers out of the rubble left in the wake of the dubstep implosion. This is all too audible in the In Session mix he's put together for us, which pushes and pulls between mammoth bass bumps and intricate, rolling percussion. It includes South West residents who are dedicated to pummelling soundsystems such as Hodge, Batu and Facta as well as other UK heads pushing things forward like Beneath, Alex Coulton and the aforementioned Bass Clef. See also the sprinklings of tracks from Livity Sound as well as a new cut from Peverelist's forthcoming album on Magic + Dreams and you've got a mix brimming with the best of new, evolutionary UK dance music.

'Worth The Weight Vol. 2' is out now, 'Livity Sound Remixes' is out on November 3 and Peverelist will release a full length as part of the '12,000 Seconds' series on November 10 via Magic + Dreams. He plays Fabric alongside Livity Sound on November 14.
