Experience the music from our BUDX Lagos stop
We booked a cast of local and international artists to help amplify the groove in Lagos
Mixmag and BUDX went to Lagos from June 26-28 to offer three full days and nights of music panels, workshops and parties, featuring both local and global artists.
We hosted a range of musical acts, from Walshy Fire to DJ Obi and Teni the Entertainer, as well as many more. Lagos came out in full force to see our stacked lineup of local standouts and international stars, and we recorded a number of the sets for you to enjoy.
Check out a few of the artists from our Lagos stop in the videos below:
Teni The Entertainer
Teniola Apata, or simply Teni, is a young Nigerian singer and songwriter who’s recently elevated to the international stage. She’s leading the next wave of female Nigerian artists, with tour dates throughout Europe and the United States. Teni won Rookie of the Year at the 2019 Headies Award, as well as the Best New Artist of 2018 at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival. Check out her boisterous performance above.
Mayorkun
Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, also known as Mayorkun, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and pianist. He was first discovered after he posted a cover Davido’s ‘The Money’ on Twitter. Davido reached out to him and helped release Mayorkun’s first single, ‘Eleko’, in 2016. The track received 1 million views within the first ten days of release. Mayorkun’s first full-length album ‘The Mayor of Lagos’ debuted in late-2018 and reached #15 on Billboard charts.
Distruction Boyz
Closing out our first night of the event on Thursday, Distruction Boyz played a dynamic hybrid set - mixing elements of afro house with hip hop flair. Their performance served as the perfect night cap to Day 1. See their performance above.
YCEE
Oludemilade Martin Alejo is the artist most commonly referred to as YCee. He grew up in Lagos and has become one of the most well-known rappers in Nigeria. YCee won the Best African Hip Hop Award during the 2017 AFRIMA award ceremony.
