Cici: "We can get distracted by what our peers are doing and that's a toxic mindset"
Presented by W Hotels and Mixmag, What She Said is a series of conversations celebrating individuality, inclusivity and honesty
We’ve joined forces with W Hotels to bring you another interview in the What She Said series exploring the challenges that women face in the music industry and beyond. In partnership with W Hotels - a chain of luxury hotels worldwide - we’re taking you through a series of conversations with female musicians to shed some light on their side of the scene.
The string of interviews has so far followed both Jyoty and Tala Samann: two of the most exciting DJs currently in the dance music realm. This time, Heléna Star met up with Dublin-born DJ Cici via a call live from W London and W Ibiza to talk about the sentiment of home, working in the dance music industry as a woman and advice for upcoming artists.

When asked for her tips for young female musicians looking to get into the industry, Cici replies: “what would be good advice for people is to really engage with the places and people you want to see yourself with. It could be a radio station you like - engage with that radio station. A record label that you like - engage with that label, engage with the people.”
