May the tunes be with you

That's it, summer is officially here. The clubs in Ibiza are open, the festivals are nearly here and the sun is trying it's fucking hardest to penetrate the gloomy London skyline. That being said, the music is getting bigger and better by the week and we've been on the forefront.

As always we strive to bring you the freshest DJ mixes and premieres from the across the dance music spectrum and May has been as full of bangers as Fabric's Room 1 when Ricky V was in session earlier in the month.

Skream's been carrying on his techno adventure with a heavy-hitting release via his Of Unsound Mind label, DJ Bone has teamed up with Deetron to bring us a lethal set of new jams and Coxy's graced our front cover before he plays his last ever season at Space :(

Check out what's been on our stereo and in your headphones this month below. We've gone in if we don't say so ourselves.

Premieres

Shiftee 'Dope Girls' feat TT The Artist (Flava D remix)

As if 'Dope Girls' didn't have enough attitude already, Flava D's touch puts it in real danger of detention. Warning: this one's got a smacking bassline running through it and it's a ruthless bumper. Approach with caution

Skream 'Settled'

Oliver Jones has been smacking it over the last 12 months. He's come full circle and is now a household name in the house and techno realms and although he may have pioneered dubstep, he's been rolling out the 4/4 fury for a while now. 'Settled' has been going off in his sets recently and shows off a techno proficiency that the Innervisions crew would be proud of.

Wehbba 'Turning Point' (ANNA Remix)

ANNA's got a real talent when it comes to brooding basslines, dwarfing low-ends and ferocious kicks and her 'Turning Point' edit features all of the aforementioned. A real masterclass and another super-stylish release on Knee Deep In Sound.

Public Service Broadcasting 'Tomorrow' (Copy Paste Soul Remix)

Copy Paste Soul has all the right artists backing him. Skream, Modeselektor and Pan Pot have all been rolling out his music and recently he played b2b2b with Jackmaster and Laurent Garnier at Nuits Sonores festival in Lyon. His remix of 'Tomorrow' starts off deep and mystical with rippling tones and grandiose strings before the entire thing explodes into an all-out electro weapon.

Radio Slave 'Vision' (Marcel Dettman Remix)

As if the original mix of 'Vision' by Radio Slave isn't enough, on the remix is one of our favourite artists and someone well versed in bringing the dread. Techno warrior Marcel Dettmann has kept those harmonious riffs intact and added some serious kicks into mix. When you factor in the sweeping chords and mechanical groove, you've got a track that's more than worthy of the Berghain.

DJ Bone 'Black Patterns'

In typical Bone fashion ‘Black Patterns’ throws listeners straight into the action from the opening beat as piano stabs and hi-hats rain down heavily. As it progresses things get more and more driving with crashing percussion and vocals chops that sound like they’re echoing into the distance as the beat speeds past.

Popof 'Lidl Girl' feat. Arno Joey (The Carl Cox Collective Remix)

Keeping true to the dancefloor darkness of the original, Carl Cox's rendition of 'Lidl Girl' provides an instant boost, driving straight into a mesmerizing beat that makes a smooth, obvious fit into the legendary Cox catalogue.

Cassy 'Back'

The first single to be taken from Cassy's debut album is 'Back' and what we get is luscious kicks, vintage keyboard chords and some enigmatic vocals. This is the perfect cut for late nights in Ibiza and we've got the premiere. We can't wait to have Cassy on the cover next month and she'll be playing at Pickle Factory for Mixmag Live as well. Hype.

Jonas Rathsman 'Complex'

Rathsman's trip to Crosstown is with Josef Salvat and 'Complex' is as good as we expected it to be. Further to that, Swiss maestro Deetron is on remix duty and he employs fierce synths to drive the track forward with intent. The cymbals thrash, the hi-hats stutter and the vocals seduce, prepare yourself for a face-melter.

Mixes

Impact: Peggy Gou

South-Korean Peggy Gou has been making a serious stamp on dance music with her infectious EPs on Rekids and Phonica. She's also had a steady string of gigs around the world, including a headline set at the soon-to-be closed Dance Tunnel and one coming up at Panorama Bar in a few weeks. Her Impact mix showcased razor-sharp house, disco, techno and a bit of acid for good measure.

In Session: Dax J

Techno's got a new leading light and his name's Dax J. The young selector has been bruising his way round soundsystems the world over and his productions are equally as face-melting. Not much needs to be said about this mix other than it's ferocious and may blow your mind more than once before the hour is up.

In Session: ItaloJohnson

Dance music's most elusive act finally entered the In Session ranks and boy was it a belter. An hour and a half of house, techno and acid, mixed perfectly in a high-octane vinyl showdown. We can't really say much about them because we just don't know it. The music speaks for itself though, trust us.
