Kahn & Neek

Kahn & Neek are the Bristol duo who specialise in blistering grime. Their on-point vinyl-only and dubplate-heavy DJ sets and staunch, aggressive approach to production (check 'Percy' and 'Chevy') mean they've positioned themselves at the front of the 2014 grimewave

It's as simple as that: they make and play pure fire. But, of course, there's more. Their Bandulu imprint releases high quality 12"s bound in custom sleeves that showcase some of the best producers currently operating in a bustling South West scene (Hi5 Ghost, Boofy, Breen, Gemmy and Oatz). And Bandulu is also a semi-regular party, creating a space for its gang (as they like to call it) to let rip on deck. Alongside the artists already mentioned, as well as fellow Bristol heads Lemzly Dale and Oh91, Kahn & Neek are holding it down for 140bpm music outside of London and proving that it's not just the capital that can produce fresh, raw 'n' fierce low-end cuts.

You'll also see them rolling together as Gorgon Sound, the heavy dub unit that, once again, makes and plays monumental, soundsystem-destroying tracks. And they're members of Young Echo, the Bristol collective that summons a heady brew of bassy, rough-edged electronic music and counts Vessel, Zhou, Ishan Sound, El Kid, Killing Sound, Jabu and more among its number. Grime is just one of their fortes; with a keen interest in UK funky, dubstep, jungle, dancehall and dub, the duo are essential for anyone into dance music powerful enough to snap your ribcage.

A key part of the current UK grime scene and intrinsic to the Bristol underground, Kahn & Neek are a lively proposition indeed. They named their In Session file the 'Raw & Unadulterated Mix' and they're not joking; expect a frenetic grime workout that clocks in at just over an hour and brims with the type of energy the pair are renowned for. Oh, and it's all vinyl too.
