Inside IKEA’s ‘housewarming’ party to celebrate the opening of their new store on London’s Oxford Street
The Swedish furniture brand teamed up with Lab54 for an epic pop-up party at Charing Cross Library, Soho — check out sets from Jammer and more inside
Now that’s a housewärming! IKEA has cut the ribbon on its new store on London’s famed shopping hub, Oxford Street. To celebrate, the Swedish furniture specialist teamed up with events agency Lab54 for a unique and unforgettable party series, which ran from April 24 - 30.
While you can’t beat a USB controller atop a record-packed KALLAX, Soho’s Charing Cross Library on Saturday (April 24) was a slightly more polished affair. Taking over two floors in the library’s main room, IKEA and Lab54 created an unforgettable get together for the third party in its housewarming series.
With a stacked line-up spanning house to techno, the pop-up housewarming saw hundreds of dancers enjoy sets in the middle of the library shelves. With an electronic set from Tibasko kicking off the night, Arielle Free brought the party with her classic house bangers before UK rap icon and one half of Más Tiempo, Jammer, took to the decks, followed by Hannah Wants and Millie Cotton.
For 80 years, IKEA has been kitting out young Londoners’ favourite places to party, whether that’s in our shared flats, house shares, studios or even coffee shops. Always breaking the mould, IKEA’s affordable interiors have been omnipresent in house parties for decades.
IKEA’s Oxford Street City store is open now, directly outside Oxford Circus Station; the new store is set across three floors and features an iconic showroom, a market place, and a Swedish Deli.
