In Session: D'Julz
A showcase of French flare
Ovum, 20:20 Vision, Pokerflat, Circus Company, Robsoul and Rekids are just some of the imprints that have played home to D'Julz's music and that's just the tip of the iceberg. His music is seductive, classy and smooth. Hearing it on a system is a joy but hearing him mix it himself is even more beautiful.
When we went to DC10 last summer for the Circo Loco opening, the line-up was outrageous. It was more of a festival roster crammed into the club's three spaces and picking who to go and see became more of a chore than a pleasure. But there was one certainty, one set that couldn't be missed.
As we piled into the bustling Terrace for the Frenchman, everything made sense. Here's a DJ who has spent years carving out a style and sound for himself with an added French flare that you can't just learn, and he's playing one of the best rooms in the world. Perfect.
Julien's 2016 schedule is as hectic as ever and he's returning to Circo Loco as a resident this summer. The 50th release on Bass Culture will come from fellow legend Mr G and he's already dropped one amazing record from Lady Blaktronika this year so trust us when we say, the best is yet to come.
There's no tracklist for this one because he wants the diggers out there to work for it and we rate that, a lot.
