Here’s what went down at the New Balance & Footasylum Presents 1000 party in Manchester
To celebrate the launch of the New Balance 1000, Crop Radio HQ hosted a one-off party flaunting the spectrum of Manchester’s grassroots electronic, rap and grime scene
Manchester was bustling in the lead-up to the BRITs weekend, with parties kicking off on every corner. On Wednesday, February 25, Footasylum and New Balance joined the festivities with a one-off event to celebrate the launch of the New Balance 1000, a brand new trainer shaped by club culture and streetwear.
Taking place at Crop Radio HQ, Stage & Radio, the night kicked off with warm-up DJ sets from local emerging stars imad:re and Buckley in an intimate basement space, while upstairs, KAMO Collective’s Emile & Bibi brought the energy with a live broadcast performance on the top floor.
The community-first party celebrated Manchester’s youth culture and creative ecosystem, bringing together some of the city’s finest emerging talent in electronic music, rap and grime, hosted by independent community radio station Crop Radio. Continuing the party late into the evening, Hanz delivered a live set featuring MCs mamba.exe, Cola B, Rago Loco and Slay, while MBB and local powerhouse Chunky also joined the celebrations.
Those in attendance were invited to show off their art skills with a custom graffiti wall, and also had the opportunity to win free pairs of the New Balance 1000 throughout the night with scratch cards, the new trainer that’s made to be danced in.
