Mixmag and Burn Energy have announced the first stop on the Burn Energy Tour 2024 - Budapest. Get tickets here.

On Friday, September 13, the tour will descend on Hungary’s capital for a one-off show with an all-star line-up, headlined by UK drum ’n’ bass star Hedex.

Hedex will be joined by the crème de la crème of international and Hungarian drum ’n’ bass talent; dancers at the warehouse venue can expect to be treated to sets from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Charlie Tee, DNB Allstars alum Latte, as well as local bass heads Shaymi and Bug.

The first stop on the Burn Energy Tour 2024 will put focus on Budapest’s burgeoning underground drum ’n’ bass scene, shining a light on the promoters, broadcasters and artists that are making the city one of the electronic world’s most exciting creative locations.

So while the night time show is promising to be an audio-visual spectacular, Mixmag and Burn can also confirm details of Burn Energy Tour’s daytime offering in Budapest – which will feature a workshop hosted by Lahmacun Radio alongside Charlie Tee on How to cultivate a non-profit music community, as well as a skills session from Charlie. The Burn Energy tour’s focus on drum ’n’ bass in Budapest is a reflection of the city’s new crop of underground creatives. While parties such as Bladerunnaz have helped to solidify d'n'b’s position as the city’s preferred genre, institutions like Lahmacun have helped to carve a new sonic identity for the city — platforming artists such as Shaymi and Bug, and their knack for combining melodic and dark harmonies into a 160 ruckus.

"I can't wait to get back to Budapest," headliner Hedex tells Mixmag. "Whenever I've been there it's always been slamming off." As a flagbearer for the new school jump-up sound, Hedex is already familiar with Hungary's capital — having delighted crowds at parties from Bladerunnaz, DNB Allstars, and more.

"Budapest has a long-running heritage of supporting the scene all over the world," he adds. "Drum 'n' bass runs quite deep there, and I always look forward to coming back."

Budapest is the first stop on the Burn Energy Tour 2024, but with additional stops set to be announced in Poland, Italy and Spain, stay tuned to Burn Energy and Mixmag’s Instagram pages.
