He's the London producer reintroducing dancehall to UK bass
“I’ve got a track with Sean Paul coming,” he announces casually. “We made it two years ago in Jamaica – I was out there working on Lily Allen’s project and he was in the studio, so we just got together. What we’ve done is very different to what he’d done before, a much slower tempo.” Unsurprisingly, Sean’s lyrical content hasn’t moved on since he was first asking for a light in the early 00s. “Yeah, it’s about weed,” Cadenza laughs. And that’s the key to his success: his ability to switch from serious social commentary to an anthem for stoners, and teaming artists with rhythms that push them into new places. “I make sure they haven’t done anything similar before. It’s always going to be a unique experience,” he says.
