February: six artists you need to check out this month
Don't sleep
Itoa
Inspired by “6am jungle and crunchy breaks”, Itoa makes stripped-back, percussive club tracks perfect for sweaty basements. Producing since he was 15, the Londoner of Japanese and Chilean heritage makes “no-frills club music” that takes its cue from jungle, juke and d’n’b, which has made its way to Radio 1. He’s released on Bad Taste Records, BTG and DJ Madd’s Roots & Future, and is supported by DBridge and Toddla T. A collab EP with Crypticz is on its way soon.
‘Strange Attractor’ 7” is out Feb 10 on Beat Machine
