‘Theme From Q’ by Objekt

After taking shelter from the pelting rain in a pub close to the site, braving the last leg to Three Mills Island seemed a little less daunting. The rain had begun to subside but, in typically British fashion, it would return like clockwork throughout the day. That was fine though. Dancers used their umbrellas as props, twirling them and showering neighbours covered head-to-toe in £1 plastic ponchos. If anything, the weather added another layer of hedonism to the affair - the drips stayed at home which left only those committed to the music in attendance. Unsurprisingly, Objekt’s very own ‘Theme From Q’, potentially the finest release of this year thus far, got the loudest reception at Objekt's afternoon set. For many it was the evening’s first collective moment of euphoria.

Objekt; technologically adept, an avid cratedigger and the man responsible for ruining dance music for one unfortunate member of our editorial team. Once again the Berlin-based DJ left a crowd speechless with an unpredictable set of techno, bass music and tunes that make you go “What on earth is that?” This new cut by Bristol’s Batu (who runs the superb Timedance label) straddled all three of those categories.
