In Session: Cinthie
The Beste Modus boss wants to make you dance
Beste Modus is a label we've put a lot of time into showcasing over the last year. It's not on everybody's radar just yet, but trust us: every track that's released, every artist who's on the stable and every BM gig that's played is at a gold standard level.
Last year we put our money where our mouth is, inviting Beste Modus into The Lab LDN as well as including the imprint in our Best Labels Of 2015. This year we'll continue to bet on the Beste and we're delighted to bring you a mix by the woman behind it all: Cinthie.
Beste Modus is only six records deep but Cinthie's career in underground dance music began long before the label cut its first test pressing. She earned her stripes DJing across Berlin as a teenager in the 90s and has gone on to use her love of underground dance music to establish a collective of young producers who each bring different styles to the table.
There's Stevn.Aint.Leavn, who makes rugged, rolling house, Ed Herbst, who keeps everything fuelled by an abundance of groove, Albert Vogt, whose vocals are sultry and serene and Diego Krause, whom Cinthie also runs Unison Wax with.
Both Beste Modus and Unison Wax are vinyl-only, with records selling out pretty damn quick whenever they're released. As if that wasn't enough, the sub label, Beste Freunde, is another incredible example of Cinthie's A&R skills. The sister imprint acts as a home for friends of the label that bring similar vibes with their output.
They are now two releases deep and the second instalment dropped last week. It features tracks from ManooZ, Martin Goldyn, Peer Du and Philipp Boston and all of the cuts focus on that smooth, house sensibility that the Beste Modus crew showcase so well.
