We asked Coxy fans if his Privilege show is as good as his Space residency

"I’m looking for a big session, a wild one with Carl Cox the legend!"

The biggest club night of the summer, possibly the year, finished earlier this week at Privilege in Ibiza. 10,000 ravers crammed inside the world’s largest club to catch the first of just two exclusive Carl Cox dates scheduled for this summer on the island. The result? A 10-hour mega rave to end all raves and a night that those in attendance will never forget. We caught up with a few Coxy diehards to find out what they thought of the king's return.

Alex, 20, Darlington

I love Carl Cox; that’s why I’ve come here today. Last year I was out here for a week and I went to Carl Cox Revolution four times. A good proportion of my holiday was spent at Space! I watched him play after Nicole Moudaber. I was completely sober, but I felt like I was on ecstasy. The journey, the progression… That night there was no better place to be than the Space Discoteca. Obviously I’m sad that Space has gone, but I’m really going to make the most of the two dates Carl has here at Privilege; I’m coming to both. This venue is something else entirely: it’s crazy. We’ve been here from start to finish. What I’ve seen throughout the night has literally blown my mind.

Natalie, 22, Portsmouth

I’m here because I’ve just moved in with my new housemates and they were saying this is going to be one of the biggest nights ever. I love Carl Cox. I’ve watched loads of his Facebook videos leading up to the event – researching! I’m also excited to see Eats Everything. I’ve seen him play so many times. He was the DJ I started listening to when I first got into house music. His track ‘Dancing (Again!)’ is my tune for life; I love that track so much. I saw him at Bestival last year and he was so much fun. I really like his music. The fact that Eats is on the line-up as well seems like a smart booking.

I’ve been to Ibiza before with my family and done the whole family thing, but this year I’m here to go clubbing! Everyone I know is here tonight and before we arrived they kept telling me how special it was that all the rooms were going to be open. So I was like, I definitely need to see that. Privilege is more spacious than the other Ibiza clubs I’ve seen. I went to Pacha last night for Flower Power and it felt a little claustrophobic. It was a great night, but you can’t just wander off when you feel like it and experience something different. Here at Privilege there are so many rooms. If you don’t like the music one, you just hop next-door! It feels a bit like a festival.

Me and my mates came over in July last year to see Carl play at Space. It was the best night of my life, to be fair. None of us have seen him play since, which is why we’re back here now. Carl is one of the biggest names around, so we just had to come here tonight. We’re coming back next week as well! I’ve been to all the other clubs on the island, but this is the first time I’ve partied at Privilege. There are loads of mad areas to explore. If you don’t enjoy the music in one room there’s always another around the corner. Carl brought us here, but now we’ve seen the venue we’ll definitely try to come back for Resistance and Afterlife.

Lauren, 19, Middlesbrough

This is my first time in Ibiza. I’m here to party. Everybody knows about Carl Cox; he’s the biggest DJ there is and this party is absolutely bouncing. I love the venue, although I haven’t got my bearings yet. Actually, I don’t have a clue where I am; this place is just so big! I’m just following my boyfriend. Hopefully he knows where he’s going! We’ve only been here on the island for a week. We went to Amnesia a few days ago, but Privilege is bigger and crazier. I expected this to be the best night of my life and it hasn’t disappointed!

Jordan, 18, Birmingham

I went to Space Closing last year and it was the best night of my life. We stayed right until the end to watch Carl Cox and Nic Fanciulli play back-to-back. We didn’t even have any money, so we weren’t drinking. We stayed purely for the music. Carl Cox is the reason why me and my friends are here tonight, but the other DJs on the line-up are amazing as well. I’ve seen Archie Hamilton at Fuse and Eats Everything at Parklife. They were both really good and dropped amazing sets tonight as well.

Jason, 23, Manchester

I’m looking for a big session, a wild one with Carl Cox the legend! When people think about the top DJs in the world, they throw out names like Jamie Jones, the Martinez Brothers, Marco Carola. But they never really mention Carl Cox, simply because he’s beyond all of that. Carl is more of a legacy. It goes without saying that he’s the best. The second, third and fourth places are the ones that are still up for grabs. I go to nights out in England every week and I see Jones, Carola and everyone else, but for me Carl Cox is head and shoulders above them all and he’s proved it again tonight here at Privilege at the biggest night of the summer.

Rachel, 24, Manchester

Me and a few friends went to the last ever Carl Cox at Space in September last year. It was an incredibly emotional experience. We’ve been coming to Ibiza for years to see Carl perform at Space and we were all a bit gutted that it was over. To be honest, we didn’t even know if he was going to play in Ibiza again. So, as soon as we heard he was playing at Privilege, we booked our flights and our accommodation and here we are! Privilege is a completely different environment here to the one in Space, but the atmosphere is just as wild, maybe more so.

Charlie, 24, London

Obviously I’m here to see Carl. I know Privilege is only a two-date thing, but from what I’ve seen tonight I think it would probably would work for a long-term residency. But I’m also here to catch Archie Hamilton. I used to go to school with Archie and I’ve been following him since he started, having the opportunity to listen to him right from the very beginning. He made his own sound through his Moscow label. Since then, he’s developed with Fuse. These days, he’s a talent in his own right and he totally smashed it tonight.

Connor, 23, Brighton

We went to Carl Cox last year at Space and it was absolutely incredible. It was August and the club was absolutely packed. The vibe was just incredible. This is my first time in Privilege. We’ve heard all about the huge capacity and about how wild the parties here can get when all the rooms are open. And let’s just say the venue really does live up to expectations. But, to be honest, the first thing I noticed was the soundsystem – it’s absolutely incredible. The system has been booting off all night. For me, nothing compares to Space, but there’s no getting away from the fact that this is an incredible venue and a very special night.

Mollie, 19, Leeds

I absolutely love Carl Cox, although I’ve never seen him live before until tonight! I’ve been so excited all week. I’ve just checked the set times and I’m also going to make sure I see Joseph Capriati in the Main Room. I like quite a lot of techno DJs, but I’ve been listening to Joseph Capriati a lot recently, especially on the beach. I’ve had a little time to explore Privilege and it is absolutely huge. I can’t wait to see what it looks like in the Thunderdome when the sun comes up. Very messy, I imagine!

Jack, 18, Coventry

I went to Hï last night and Ushuaïa earlier today, so I’m pretty tired. I haven’t been to bed yet, but my sister told me I had to come here tonight! Actually, so did my mum. She used to like Carl when she went out clubbing. In fact, it was my mum that got me into listening to Carl’s music in the first place. Out of all the clubs I’ve been to so far, the music here is by far the best. The venue is massive. But the atmosphere is just unreal. Even though I’m knackered, I’m really glad I came. It’s something you just have to see for yourself.
