15 years on from its inaugural edition, Balaton Sound has kept blood pumping in Hungary — and as a cousin to the country’s much larger yearly festival of Sziget, festivalgoers knew exactly what they were getting themselves in for when the 2022 edition kicked off over the last weekend of June.

Picture fireworks, fancy dress, idyllic sunset views and a big helping of dance music and you have yourself a one-way ticket to Balaton Sound — the annual event taking up space on the scenic waterfront of Lake Balaton. This year, Balaton celebrated 15 trips around the sun with an incredible line-up showcasing a range of dance-oriented genres - from Becky Hill to Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike to Paul Kalkbrenner.

Adding to the playfulness of this year’s comeback event after two years of cancellations, Balaton Sound brought Elrow back to the shores. Fans were tempted into the confetti cannon-lined Elrow arena with music from the likes of Jamie Jones and Joseph Capriati — and stayed for the spellbinding atmosphere.
