The story of Snowbombing's 20th anniversary in 20 festival posters
Explore the legacy of Europe's biggest snow and music festival
Snowbombing is hitting a special milestone next April, celebrating two decades of thrills with its 20th anniversary edition.
Established in 1999, Snowbombing first took place in the French resort of Risoul and later moved along the French Alps to Les Arc, holding two editions at Villars in Switzerland in between, before settling into its long-term home of Mayrhofen in Austria since 2005.
Since then Snowbombing has become the biggest snow and music festival in Europe. Its potent combination of winter sports and killer electronic music line-ups has made the Austria-based event an essential party destination for adrenaline junkies. Bombing down mountains at rapid speeds with spectacular sheet-white vistas as far as the eye can see is fun in itself, but throwing après-ski dances, igloo discos, forest clearing raves, nightclub afters and even parties inside a butcher’s shop into the mix elevates the excitement to new levels.
The line-up never disappoints, with the likes of Annie Mac, Pendulum, Flava D, Carl Cox, Hannah Wants, Chase & Status, Nastia, Derrick May, The Chemical Brothers and Cassy all appearing over the years. 2019 looks set to be the biggest and best yet, with The Prodigy, Stormzy, Fatboy Slim, Andy C, Bicep and Groove Armada heading up the bill.
Relive the impressive run of line-ups and check out what’s store for next year in the gallery of Snowbombing posters across the years below.
Snowbombing 2019 takes place across April 8 to 13, tickets start at £269 and are available here.
