Rarely do people consider the Midwest of the United States a beachside festival destination, which is one of the reasons why Chicago’s Mamby on the Beach continues to be a highlight of the summer festival season. For its fourth year, equipped with an eye-catching line-up of talents and additional non-music activity programming, Mamby stuck to its unique curation and brought in an eager crowd to the shores of Lake Michigan.

In the Mixmag x Beatport dance tent on Saturday, crowds overflowed from the stage packing in for Duke Dumont, Jai Wolf, Nora En Pure and more, providing a varied soundtrack for the day. On Sunday, the Mixmag x Beatport tent came in with a much darker vibe, featuring a strong techno line-up with Richie Hawtin, Dixon and DJ Tennis.

On the main Beach Stage, where crowds faced an unbeatable Chicago skyline backdrop, Gorgon City delivered one of their polished live shows at sunset, setting up the stage for iconic Chicago-native rapper Common. Sunday saw another impressive electronic live show on the main stage, this time from NYC-based artist Moon Boots.

On the other side of the festival, designed for the more laid-back fans, Spoon, Cold War Kids, St Lucia, Snakehips and Grizzly Bear played to a sprawling crowd on the aptly named Park Stage, in the only grassy field on site.

Mamby has successfully established itself as a comfortable, accessible festival for a wide range of music fans and will likely continue to be a Chicago summer staple for years to come.
