10 Big Tunes you need to hear this month

Justice, Loco Dice, Duke Dumont and more

  • Ralph Moore

1 Moby 'Go' (Loco Dice Mo’ Strings remix)

Well, this was a nice surprise. Moby is having his back catalogue revisited and while both of these blistering Ibiza mainroom mixes deliver, this string-drenched techno workout is our tip.

2 Justice 'Safe And Sound'

After their second album faltered, it was time for a proper rethink from Justice. Thankfully, their first single of 2016 is their best since ‘D.A.N.C.E.’ and suggests that their third album may be a serious return to form.

3 Duke Dumont 'Be Here'

This is something of a coup for Defected, who not only have a seriously booming vocal soul-houser but also the slick, Tong-approved ‘Worship’ on the flip, too.

4 Shura 'What’s It Gonna Be?' (Tourist remix)

As fellow fans of Janet Jackson and classic Madonna, we like the way Shura operates. Here comes an eight-minute Tourist remix of a track from her excellent debut LP.

5 Red Rack'em 'Wonky Bassline Disco Banger'

With remixes still being planned for this sublime vinyl smash, we’re bigging this up because it’s now been signed to Classic after gaining support by everyone from Ricardo and Zip to The Black Madonna.

6 Paul Woolford 'Heaven And Earth Part 1'

With Midland helping Aus mark their 100th release by closing our Jackmaster mix, Paul Woolford has the unenviable task of supplying 101. Luckily, this emotional, epic instrumental, powered by plucked strings and pure Detroit energy, does the trick.

7 Aurora 'I Went Too Far' (MK remix)

Aurora, in case you’re curious, is a new Norwegian signing to Decca and a favourite of MK, who features her on ‘Give Me Some Love’ on his still-incoming artist album. Here he returns the favour with his biggest mix of 2016.

8 Mighty Dub Katz 'Magic Carpet Ride' (Boris D’Lugosch remix)

A welcome return to Big Tunes for Southern Fried, who feature a couple of times on this month’s Jackmaster mix. There are remixes from Butch and Boris D, with the latter delivering his strongest house mix in yonks.

9 Bob Moses 'Tearing Me Up' (A-Trak remix)

Bob Moses are still something of a connoisseur’s choice, but with remixes from Tale Of Us, Joris Voorn and now A-Trak, they look set to jump up a couple of gears. It’s also A-Trak’s best remix since Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

10 Foals 'Mountain At My Gates' (Alex Metric mix)

This shimmering, muscular house mix of Foals’ ‘…Gates’ from UK producer Alex Metric is one for Solomun and Sasha alike, and his second Foals mix after ‘Bad Habit.’
