Yulia Niko shares debut album, 'TWINSOUL'
The record leverages on the transformative power of music, drawing upon a life-altering experience at a young age
Germany-based Yulia Niko has this week released her debut album 'TWINSOUL' via Armada Music.
Each of its 10 tracks are firmly personally resonant, with Niko attempting to leverage the transformative power of music - which, for her, was vital upon being hospitalised following a car accident for two months. Throughout this experience, she delved into old Ibiza discs, trance, progressive and classic house records, with her first gig happening a year later.

'TWINSOUL' thus draws upon such significance, but its primary inspiration stems from the motivation to honour Niko's father following his death. Therefore, through sounds stemming from classic Detroit and Chicago influences, developed in her move to New York to study music production, real instruments and emotionally-charged lyricism, the body of work comes together fusing deep house, techno and progressive minimal sounds.
“I am taking it super slow and easy, inching closer and closer to my goals,” she explains on the record, keen to emphasise that is marks merely a beginning. “I’m on no one else’s timeline but my own.”
