Wild tornadoes tear through Ibiza

Ibiza has been experiencing record-high temperatures this season, resulting in some very extreme weather – not least the floods that Mixmag reported on recently. Yesterday, Mother Nature went back on the rampage with a flurry of tornadoes hitting the island, causing damage to vehicles and houses, while tearing through power lines and trees.

Some areas were flooded – including the Ibiza airport runway which was stalled for two hours – and many people were unable to leave their houses. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.

For now, no more tornados are expected – although torrential rain throughout other parts of Spain is anticipated – and the clean up operation in Ibiza continues today.
