New HBO Max series ‘The Idol’, co-created and starring The Weeknd has released its first trailer.
Co-created by The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfay, Euphoria director Sam Levinson and The Weeknd’s producing partner Reza Fahim, the series will follow a pop singer who becomes romantically involved with an LA club owner and cult leader.
Not only will it star Abel Tesfay but also Lily-Rose Depp and Troye Sivan will feature in The Idol.

As well as them, Tunde Adebimpe, Blackpink’s Jennie, Anne Heche, Melanie Liburd, Steve Zissis, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Hari Nef, and Nico Hiraga will feature in the series.
In April, The Weeknd released a video for the original version of 'Out Of Time' which features Squid Game's Jung Ho-yeon along with Jim Carrey, who narrated much of 'Dawn FM'.
As well as this, The Weeknd has also headlined Coachella alongside Swedish House Mafia. He has recently started the North American leg of his 'After Hours Til Dawn' tour, which is largely being supported by Doja Cat.
Last week, his tour began in Toronto but was unexpectedly postponed due to a nationwide outage of Canada’s main telecommunications company.
The Idol release date has yet to be announced but it is said to be "coming soon".
