Watch the Moog Mother-32 synth put through its paces in the Arizonan desert

M. Geddes Gengras and Kyle Dixon try out the new kit

Asheville-based manufacturer Moog unveiled the Mother-32 at the start of this month, which is the first tabletop semi-modular synthesiser put out by the tech company.

The synth has been described by Moog as "a distinctive analogue instrument that adds raw analogue sound, sequencing and extensive interconnectivity to any electronic or modular ecosystem."

In June the company gave artists M. Geddes Gengras and Kyle Dixon an opportunity to test the equipment out at FORM, a festival that takes place in the architecturally seminal 'urban laboratory' town of Arcosanti in the Arizonan desert.

The video description explains: "M. Geddes Gengras uses a discrete Mother-32 and Minifooger Analog Delay to experiment with FM applications and LFO modulation routings, while Kyle Dixon integrates a pair of Mother-32s and a duo of Minifooger delays with his personal Eurorack case, using the 4ms QCD to clock each of the Mother's sequencers independently."
