Vosper & Ponsolo - 8/10

Remain’s Meant Records is our go-to for sleazy, slo-mo electro that oozes groove and seamlessly blends the line between the light and dark. It’s always such full-bodied electro, too: the basslines are chunky as you like and there’s an element of funk coursing through the label’s veins.

Vosper makes his return to the imprint, this time hand-in-hand with Ponsolo and the ‘Whatever’ EP is a joy. It’s weird, wonderful and although it’s got a slightly grimy feel, it’s still fun.

The title track is a slamming cut with cheeky little horns and mischievous Talking Heads-style vocals, while the Superstudio remix is a more serious, techno-friendly take.

‘I Wish’ is also a fun one, with basslines that whip and synths that raise a few eyebrows, but ‘Cats & Dogs’ is our pick. It’s driving, rolling and, at more than eight minutes long, it’s an extended delight.
