A volcano erupted into the acid house smiley

From the Haçienda to Hawaii, acid house is still smiling.

The Central Pacific island is a long way from the clubs where the genre took off in the late 80s, but one volcano paid homage to it last week. Kilauea, active since 1983, erupted on July 27 and the lava burst into a huge smiley face resembling the one we all pin acid house to.

Helicopter footage caught the beaming hot grin, with the lava, which had been on a six-mile trip since May, reaching the Pacific Ocean for the first time in three years.
