Had Groove Armada’s career stalled after their debut album, 1998’s ‘Northern Star’, we would have missed out on a lot. It mixed downtempo, Balearica, jazz, funk and disco stylings with only the mildest hints of the head down, lights out house we associate them with today.

Much of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay’s burgeoning dancefloor nous came from playing Fabric. It was here, in Room 3, that their most enduring track – Superstylin’ – took shape. Their FABRICLIVE mix isn’t pristine or surgical; it’s more sensuous than that. Raw, warehouse-style East Coast classics like Chez Damier’s ‘Untitled A1’ sit alongside, steamy, neck-snapping, fluid techno in the form of Nicole Moudaber’s ‘Can I Get Some’ and their own twisted, witching hour groove, Stevie Latenight.

Nothing outstays its welcome, with quick-fire transitions between tracks. Sometimes sweaty house music is all.
