Ibiza venues Ushuaïa and Pacha raided by authorities

Spanish police entered both this morning

The police crackdown on Ibiza continues as Ushuaïa and Pacha were both raided by Spanish police this morning, at 6:30am and 8am respectively, El Mundo reports.

Each raid is a result of the Operation Chopin investigation, an undertaking of the Ibiza Tax Agency aimed at combating alleged tax fraud that has probed 87 venues.

Grupo Empresas Matututes’ offices, the parent company of Palladium Hotel Group which owns Ushuaïa, were also called into by police.

It follows on from a number of other high-profile nightspots on the White Isle being targeted in July. Amesia’s owner Martin Ferrer was arrested, followed by a 17-hour raid and €2 million being seized from its premises.

Days later, Space and Privilege were both searched, although this was stated to be unrelated to the intervention at Amnesia.

Drug raids have also been targeting boat parties in the crystal waters of Ibiza, as police ramp up their presence on the island.

The raid today may worry potential investors in Pacha, which was put up for sale earlier this week.
