Unsound has opened a venue in a former strip club
89 hosts debut parties this month during Unsound Festival
Unsound and Forum Przestrzenie have linked up to open a new club in Krakow named 89, or Osiem Dziewięć in Polish.
It’s hosted in a space beneath Hotel Forum that has previously existed as a venue called Crazy Dragon, which, in recent years, has been used as a strip club. It retains the original décor almost in its entirety, with carpet covering the floor and ceiling. Unsound notes in a press release that upon entry you might “think you’ve dropped into a David Lynch movie.”
The press release also comments on rampant club closures in cities such as London, and asserts “the aim is to make 89 a key point on the Polish and European underground club circuit.” It will employ a no guestlist and no photography rule.
89’s programming will feature dance music on weekends, with a line-up of experimental music through the week.
Two pre-opening events have been planned during Unsound Festival, with afterparties taking place on October 22 and 23 following the end of Hotel Forum’s activities each night.
Tickets will be priced at 25 PLN, with a festival pass not securing entry to the separately produced events. Check out the line-ups and set times below.
