Unsound Festival announces 2021 theme ‘dəəp authentic’

The festival returns in Krakow in October

Unsound Festival has released the dates of the festival this year, alongside the theme: ‘dəəp authentic’.

The festival will take place between October 13 and 17 in Krakow, with performances, DJ sets and panel discussions spread out across the span of five days. The theme of the festival is responding to the transitional period that the pandemic has presented.

The festival will also be exploring authenticity conceptually, looking at binaries such as online and offline and the body and the machine.

In a statement, Unsound clarified this years theme and elaborated on the ideas they’re exploring with this year’s festival:

“In a world of artificial body enhancement, microdosing, neuroengineering, bot armies and crypto art, Unsound 2021 will investigate tensions between the synthetic and organic, the fake and the real, body and machine and online and offline, as well as uniqueness, replication, appropriation and commerce, all of which question yearnings for authentic experiences or an authentic self. How does technology affect the idea of an individual voice, whether that be human or non-human.“

The festival is also calling for artists, writers and theorists to respond to this years theme. Those chosen will be compensated by the festival. All interested should email deepauthentic@unsound.pl

A limited number of passes to the festival will go on sale in June.
