UK promoter behind Unknown Festival buys Croatian island
Obonjan will be ready for parties next summer
There's a new party island coming next year.
As of summer 2016, Obonjan, situated near the city of Sibenik, will be turned into a music hub thanks to Unknown Festival promoter Sound Channel and Croatian company Gratiosus.
Three years in the works and said to be a "low-impact, environmentally-friendly destination", Sound Channel's Dan Blackledge says the plan is to turn it into "paradise".
"We've been working on this project for three years which has given us time to carefully refine our ideas."
"Our vision for the island of Obonjan is to regenerate the island and turn it into a truly unique concept, combining art and music, wellness, sustainable living, amazing food and drink and fun and creative accommodation, all on an idyllic island paradise."
Best keep your eyes peeled for a few new Croatian festivals next year, then.
