UK adults spend almost £4,000 a year on nights out, new study finds

The study reveals how much people spend going to clubs, bars, and pubs annually, finding that over 35s are among the biggest spenders

A new study has revealed how much people in the UK spend on nights out each year. 

According to a survey of 2,000 participants conducted by credit card company Aqua, UK adults spend on average £3,776 annually on going to nightclubs, bars and pubs.

Despite the figures, only 9% of respondents said they had spent money going to a nightclub in the last 12 months, with around 35% reporting spending at pubs and bars.

Around 56% of respondents said they had spent money eating out at restaurants, while 51% reported spending money on travel or holidays in the last 12 months.

The study finds that people between the ages of 35-44 are among the biggest spenders, forking out £5,652 on nights out — which equates to around £471 per month. 

25s-34s were the next largest spenders, averaging £4,968 per year (£414 per month), while 16-24s reportedly spend around £2,700 per year (£225 per month).
