Trump Press Secretary says "Daft Funk" needs to “grow up” and “lose their helmets”

Tweets have surfaced following his embarrassing first press conference

Trump’s White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer once called out “Daft Funk” for their 2014 performance at The Grammy’s, stating they “need to grow up” with regards to their iconic robot helmets.

Initially, Spicer made headlines due to the embarrassing nature of his first press conference as White House Press Secretary on January 21 in which he called out the media for “manipulating” images of the sparse crowd at Trump’s 2017 inauguration. He also referred to the gathering as “the largest audience ever to witness an inauguration, period”, a statement that has since been proven to be false.

Now Spicer’s track record for delivering unpopular opinions has been highlighted by a series of Tweets directed at “Daft Funk”, or the production duo more commonly known as Daft Punk. Just days after the inaugural news conference, these tweets have now gone viral.

Aside from Spicer mucking up the duo’s name, the series of tweets from 2014 have him declare that he was an “early and still fan” of Daft Punk, but expressed his distaste for their Grammy performance with Stevie Wonder: “Daft Funk -- this is your 10 seconds in the spotlight - u r blowing it”.

Of course in actuality Daft Punk have enjoyed decades in the spotlight, much more than the 10 seconds as Spicer stated, and have won six Grammy’s during their career.
