Tottenham music venue The Post Bar to close permanently this weekend
The owners have said that "conversations are ongoing" with prospective new operators of the space
Tottenham-based live music venue and cafe The Post Bar has announced that it will shutter "in its current capacity" this weekend.
In an announcement shared via Instagram on Monday (April 6), the team behind The Post Bar wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that we announce that The Post Bar, in its current capacity, will be closing on April 12."
First launched in 2018, owners Mic, Camilo and Dorothy managed to weather the storm during the pandemic to re-open as a lauded music venue in 2021; however their statement this week alludes to the team stepping away from the community-led venue and expressed that new people are interested in taking on the space.

"We're keeping everything crossed that they succeed so the doors can open once again," the statement adds, saying that "conversations are ongoing" with the hopes that "this isn't goodbye, just the start of a new chapter.""We are endlessly grateful to every person who filled the bar in one way or another, whether performing, creating, working, or simply coming through the door," the statement continues. "A special thank you to our Tottenham locals, who truly made this place what it is."
The venue received support from grassroots music charity The Music Venue Trust (MVT) in the lead-up to its closure, with a spokesperson writing in a statement: "We share their hope that this is not the end."

The MVT also says that it hopes any future owners of The Post Bar "will honour what has been created here and to continue its role as a vital, community-led grassroots venue."
"Grassroots music venues are defined by the people who run them, and the dedication, resilience and vision shown by this team, especially through the challenges of recent years, is something to be recognised and respected."
