Toshiba Camileo x Sports - 8/10
Toshiba’s first action camera is great for festivals
A great place to destroy electronic equipment, festivals provide some of your best memories, but are often the worst place for anything you use to capture them.
That's where the Toshiba Camileo X Sports comes in. Designed to endure anything from white water rafting to mountain biking, Toshiba's unassuming camera is more than a match for any festival.
Thanks to a fixed ultra-wide angle lens, the Toshiba is perfect for capturing as much around you as possible. Shoe-horning your surroundings into high quality footage, the Camileo is more suited to high octane events then traditional photography. At the back, Toshiba have crammed in a 2 inch screen. Although not the sharpest, it's a welcome addition - and makes framing shots much easier. Thanks to a free app, it's also possible to stream previews to your smartphone, and then share your footage to your friends. Small buttons provide a way to navigate through the camera's menu, but aren't the most user-friendly. Small and difficult to press for larger handed users and coupled with a rather primitive menu, they make the Toshiba tricky to operate.
Despite its size, the Toshiba packs in a 12MP CMOS sensor, able to deliver slick, high resolution footage. Capable of capturing 1080p footage at 60fps, the Camileo X Sports can capture any set in Full HD. Battery life is also impressive for a camera this size, so you won't need to visit a charging station every other act.
Durability is where the Toshiba really excels. Thanks to a hard wearing airtight case, the Toshiba is waterproof up to a depth of 60m - more than sufficient for even the most waterlogged festival.
A great camera for quick snaps, the Toshiba Camileo X offers good quality filming in a durable, compact package. Great value at only £200, the Camileo X Sports could be a trusty companion for any festival.
