This turntable lets you rip your vinyl into WAV format

Thank you, Sony

We first heard about Sony's forthcoming turntable in January, but now there's more information about the record player that can transform vinyl into high-resolution audio.

Said to be priced at £450 and expected in May, the PS-HX500 gives you the opportunity to turn wax into WAV up to 24bit/192kHz. Sony's Direct Stream Digital (DSD) is also supported, offering frequencies of 2.8MHz and 5.8MHz (double DSD).

Product manager Laura Bulander revealed the details at Sound & Vision 2016 in Bristol, outlining features such as the Hi-Res Audio Recorder, twin speeds and a unique cartridge by Audio-Technica MM OEM.

Bulander said: “It’s a bit more high-end than the models that we used to do and different because it’s a high-resolution audio turntable. We are able to rip analogue straight into a high resolution audio format."

Head to Sony's website for more specifications.
