This psychedelic chair is inspired by French Touch

Daft Punk are proving to be quite the inspiration for artists recently. First, the duo's robot helmets were recreated and now their 'Alive 1997' album has inspired a spectrum-effect chair.

Juliette Mutzke-Felippelli, a designer from Los Angeles, says she had a bright spark after listening to the French pair's second album, taking inspiration from the way they layered filtered disco samples, according to Visual News.

She said: “I interpreted the artists’ layering and filtering method literally, by using the dichroic film, which acts as a beautiful color filter, and applying it to acrylic. Our foremost design consideration was to show off the dichroic effect, so we created flat surfaces at every angle.

"The chair is as vibrant and mesmerizing as the combination of uplifting disco samples and heavy filters used in tracks during the heyday of the French house musical genre."

The way it's designed means it wouldn't be any good for your back if you used it as furniture, though. Intended as an art piece, Mutzke-Felippelli is looking to flog it for $7,500 on Joogii.

Also inspired by other French acts Cassius and Etienne de Crecy, the French Touch chair comes with a mixtape, which you can listen to below.
