There’s about to be a rave at the Great Wall of China

One of the most recognisable structures in the world, and the only man-made object visible from space is about to have an underground dance music festival thrown at it later this month.

The Great Wall of China is set to host the YinYang festival from June 20-22, and will feature sets from Juno Reactor, Sulumi, Kamara, Adam Swain, Frits Wentink, and Cesqeaux, as well as a strong showing from the Chinese underground massive.

Curated and organised by the Shanghai's Mansion Cultural Center, the 2000-capacity festival will almost certainly be a carefully policed event given the Chinese government's steely wield over the people, and the Great Wall's status as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

It's been a vintage year for the weird party site, with Innervisions' 'Lost in a Moment' parties at Osea Island and a 19th century Dutch sea fort making the headlines, as well as the bizarre Icelandic glacier rave lined up at Secret Solstice. But Yinyang isn't the first rave to be thrown at the Great Wall as trance don Paul Oakenfold got up there and smashed it back in 2003.
