There's a protest in aid of nightlife in London this weekend

Don your fancy dress and pack your musical instruments

A peaceful protest in support of London's nightlife is happening this Saturday (October 8).

The demo, headed by MEOKO, will begin at 1pm in Hoxton Square, East London before moving through Old Street and Hackney Road and finishing in London Fields at 4pm.

Marchers are asked to be on their best behaviour and are urged to don fancy dress and equip themselves with musical instruments.

As fabric prepares to appeal its recent licence revocation, the protest "is a call for the government to step up, value and protect this extremely precious and precarious aspect of our culture, not only in London but throughout the UK."

Demo organiser Nicole Venter says: “Because our culture made us who we are, rach and everyone of us wouldn’t be who we are today without the clubs, the bars, the art galleries, the festivals, the concerts, the raves, the venues and the parties."
