The Terminator franchise will continue

James Cameron will head up the revival

The continuation of the Terminator franchise has been given a boost thanks to a new deal between production company Skydance Media and film studio Paramount Pictures.

After uncertainties whether the sci-fi film series would carry on, the new deal means there's more to come from the iconic James Cameron-led project starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, according to The Tracking Board.

A post from TTB reads: "With this new deal in place, The Tracking Board can confirm that Skydance and Paramount will move forward with the UNTITLED TERMINATOR REVIVAL PROJECT planned with original filmmaker James Cameron with Deadpool director lined up to direct."

No date has been confirmed for the the next film, which will follow 2015's Terminator Genisys.

Last year, the original score to The Terminator was reissued on vinyl.
