Sole Supplier presents the Grimeline

Explore the roots of the grime scene

Back in 2004, grime was a genre that rarely surfaced in popular culture and the only ways of tapping into the scene was either through pirate radio stations or by watching low-res Channel U videos on Sky TV.

Fast-forward to the present day and it’s nearly unavoidable to hear or see established artists such as Stormzy or Mercury Prize-winning artist Skepta touring or headlining festival stages.

Since its resurgence and rise to a more mainstream audience, various documentaries have been created on the history of the scene and it’s cemented history as arguably a new wave UK sub-culture.

To celebrate the resurgence of the scene, online sneaker platform The Sole Supplier pay homage to grime with a microsite which celebrates the influences, culture and fashion with an emphasis on prevalent trainers that are worn within the scene.
