The Rainbow Venues has appealed the decision to revoke its licence

Birmingham City Council ordered a closure last month

Birmingham club The Rainbow Venues has appealed the decision to revoke its licence.

The Digbeth venue has been closed since last month after a 19-year-old clubber died in hospital after reportedly taking MDMA there.

Birmingham City Council has said it received a notification of the appeal from Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, with a date for the court appeal yet to be confirmed.

The Rainbow issued a statement shortly after the closure was ordered, detailing that it creates "a safe environment for people to enjoy our events."

A number of DJs including Hannah Wants and Solardo are backing a petition to save the club. Sign it here.
