The Night Tube's now set to be rolled out in summer

The Night Tube is now being slated for an August launch, almost a year after it was originally expected to arrive.

No specific date has been announced, union officials for London Underground say the 24-hour service will be available on Victoria and Jubilee lines in August, followed by the Central, Piccadilly and Northern lines in September.

Progress has been made after Aslef and the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union - two of the largest Tube unions - accepted pay conditions. However, the Transport Salaried Staffs Association and Unite have not yet agreed to anything.

Finn Brennan of Aslef said: "A world-class capital city such as London deserves a world-class public transport system. We are really pleased that passengers will be able to enjoy an all-night service from August, operated under agreements that have improved conditions for existing drivers and created hundreds of new jobs, and new Aslef members."

Part-time drivers will be onboard for the launch, with Brennan adding they will be "guaranteed the same benefits as existing drivers and will be able to move to full-time roles if they choose to."
