The Nite Owl Diner to release posthumous 12” from Nackt

The producer tragically lost his life in the Oakland fire

The Nite Owl Diner has announced its next release will be a debut 12” from Johnny Igaz, aka Nackt.

The forthcoming four track EP, titled ‘Night System’, will serve as a posthumous release for Nackt, who tragically lost his life in the fire at the Ghost Ship art space in Oakland earlier this month.

For many years Nackt was a guiding force within the Bay Area’s dance music community, co-founding the Outpost, Rare Form, and Deep East parties. He released a cassette on 100% Silk in 2015 and had lined up the new EP on The Nite Owl Diner well before his passing.

When discussing the forthcoming EP with RA, label co-founder Chrissy expressed how the next release on the label is much more than just another 12”: “I was heartbroken to hear of Johnny's passing in the Ghost Ship fire, as are so many other people in the scene whose lives he touched. Needless to say, this has put our next release in a new light. It's not just another Nite Owl Diner 12-inch anymore, but a memorial to our friend. We hope we can do Nackt and his music justice. I've been in touch with his collaborators and his family to make sure all the details are right. We're excited to introduce Johnny's music to people who didn't get to know him in life. We wish he were here to see the reactions his tunes will get. We'll miss you, Nackt.”
