The FBI is investigating the Mad Decent Boat Party incident

A 24-year-old woman jumped overboard last week

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is looking into the incident that saw a woman jump overboard on the Mad Decent boat party last week.

Recently identified as Kaylyn Rose Summer, 24, she reportedly jumped from a Norwegian Cruise Lines ship during the Diplo-founded event as it made it's way through the Yucatan Channel off the coast of Cuba on November 12.

When it returned to the Port of Miami early, rather than continue to the intended destination of Cozumel in Mexico, the FBI "met the ship as it pulled into the port", according to bureau spokesman Michael Leverock.

The cruise liner's officials issued a statement following the incident saying "a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard", while the rescue effort included three boats, the Coast Guard's Cutter Alligator and a C-130 Aircraft.

A statement was also made on the Mad Decent Boat Party Facebook page: "The safety and security of our guests and the ship's crew is our number one priority, all appropriate safety precautions will continue to be taken for this and all of our events.

"Our hearts go out to the family and all involved in this incident, and we will continue to support those affected during this difficult time."
