Going raving in the 'dam might just get cheaper
Ravers with a keen eye on Amsterdam will be able to get the Eurostar direct to the Dutch city by the end of the year.
The journey from St Pancras International to the centre of Amsterdam will take approximately four hours, with two trains per day running to begin with.
Landing in time for Christmas, Eurostar will go head-to-head with the prices offered by airlines such as easyJet and British Airways. At the moment, the Eurostar to Amsterdam can take up to six hours, with a changeover in Belgian capital Brussels.
With one-way fares to Paris and Brussels only costing £25, ravers looking to party at venues such as De School or Shelter can expect very affordable tickets.
A Eurostar spokesperson said: “We will compete with the low-cost airlines on price, speed, ease, convenience and quality of service.” London to Rotterdam services are expected to come into play soon, too.
