The Blade Runner sequel is going to be out earlier than expected

We're still awaiting plot details, though

Blade Runner fans haven't got as long to wait as first thought for the sequel.

First said to be coming out in January 2018, it's now planned to hit screens on October 6, 2017 according to production company Alcon Entertainment.

The Verge reckons the push forward is to do with Star Wars: Episode XIII coming out a month before Blade Runner's initial release date.

Apparently it'll be "set several decades after the original" but that's the only information about the plot we know so far. Harrison Ford returns and Hollywood swoon Ryan Gosling is also onboard, with Denis Villeneuve replacing Ridley Scott as director.

Let's hope the soundtrack is just as epic as the original.
